a history of innovation
“Innovation is the calling card of the future.”
Anna Eshoo
It’s been nearly six decades since the German-based specialty chemicals giant, Rohm and Haas, decided to build its worldwide research & development headquarters in Spring House, PA. With the goal of building an “environment of discovery,” the engineers and architects imagined a landscape that would spark collaboration and innovation by its very design:
- Walking paths that would bring people together
- Open courtyards and dining facilities, where professionals would gather and talk
- An infusion of amenities that would enliven and recharge spirits
- A dynamic environment that would foster creativity and connection
Today, that trailblazing design has been reimagined, rebuilt and relaunched as Spring House Innovation Park (SHIP). Our innovative, brilliantly-designed, multi-use campus pays homage to and is a progressive step forward from its predecessor. SHIP is home to a university-affiliated regional center of excellence for innovation and advanced production, as well as a business incubation and commercialization center.
The 133-acre Spring House business and research park is positioned to be a regionally recognized center of excellence for innovation. From life science companies to financial services and biotech startups, SHIP is a business ecosystem spanning multiple industries from across the globe. Our 11-building footprint is home to international companies, global thought-leaders, scientists, renowned universities, R&D corporations, small business owners and local biotech start-ups. SHIP, alongside its tenant partners, is pushing industries forward to shape the future of our world.
